Giving Life to the Community

Brigitte McReynolds:

"We live in fast times, where mystery is hard to believe.

Everyday life is my inspiration. My work is like a visual diary. Events become timeless happenings. Color, symbols and archetypes resonate in us, creating a sense of wonder about life"

Brigitte's work shows the way in which her use of color, symbols and history result in a visual journal. She studied art in Munich, Germany, 1980-1982. Of the many pursuits related to her art career, McReynolds says art therapy school (Forum fuer analytische Kunsttherapie, Munich, 1983-1985) had the most effect on her life as an artist. It was this education that heightened her interest and her awareness in psychology and symbolism. This understanding helped her make sense of her surroundings, adjusting from her previous home in Germany to her new life in Sonoma. She moved to California in 1989.

Brigitte has worked as an artist for over 25 years. Mostly painting in oil, encaustic and acrylic, but also exploring other media like metal, sculpture and printmaking. She has exhibited her work in the U.S. since 1989.
