The annual Hearts events - HEROES & HEARTS and HEARTS AFTER DARK - bring the community together each year to celebrate the important role The General plays in the lives of all San Franciscans. The events are also vital to the Foundation's fundraising efforts. Support raised from the events helps subsidize the Hearts Grants program. These grants are awarded to hospital programs and initiatives that contribute to the excellence of The General, many of which have the potential to develop sustainable funding. In 2012, the Foundation awarded over 60 grants.
